Location and History

Casper College, located in Casper, Wyoming, (population 50,000) is situated near
the center of the state and at the hub of Wyoming’s highway system. The college
draws students from all 23 countries, several states and other countries.
The college came into existence in 1945 and was located on the third floor of the
Natrona County High School, with an enrollment of 73. As enrollment continued to
climb, the college expanded its faculty, its curricular offerings and its facilities to
meet the needs of steady growth.
Today, the college serves a student population of 3,800 (2,000 full-time and 1,800
part-time) on a 125-acre campus that house 28 buildings. The college offers over
70 degree choices.

Mission Statement
Casper College develops and maintains educational programs, student support
services and activities appropriate to the needs of the communities served. The
college provides programs which parallel the first two years of baccalaureate
education, prepares students for vocational and professional degrees, and provides
valuable lifelong learning opportunities. All programs are supported by traditional
and innovative equipment, materials, and resources within the limits of the
college’s legal and fiscal responsibilities.
Casper College provides an atmosphere in which both learning and teaching are
respected. To this end, the college strives to maintain excellence in its faculty,
staff and administration so that its services reflect outstanding quality and
responsiveness to the individual student and to the traditional values inherent in
effective teacher-student interaction.

Organization
The college is organized by divisions and the divisions by departments. These are
seven academic divisions: Fine Arts, Language and Literature, Health and Life
Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Business, and Trades
and Technology.
Along with a strong academic curriculum, Casper College provides a wide-range of
career programs and retraining opportunity. Certificate programs include such
areas as automotive service and repair, diesel power, electronics and drafting,
nursing and welding. Many vocational programs offer one-year certificates or two-
year associate degrees. A Placement Center on campus assists students with
finding employment.

Division of Trades and Technology
Automotive Technology
The automotive technology curriculum is offered for students who are planning a
career in the automotive industry including dealerships and/or independent repair
facilities.
The automotive technology program is based in the modern shop facility of the
career Studies Center. The Center, built in 1983, is a complex of shops and
classrooms encompassing over 30,000 square feet. The program is industry
supported and supplied with the latest in tools, training aids and technology.
The program supports two full-time instructors who, combined, have over 46 years experience in the automotive industry. Each maintains master technician
certifications.
Students may obtain a one-year Certificate in Automotive Technology or a two-
year Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Technology.
