History of City College
As of the year 2000, City College of San Francisco will have served the educational needs of its city for sixty-five years. During that time, the College has evolved into a multicultural, fully-accredited community college that is one of the largest in the country.

Educational Philosophy
City College of San Francisco is dedicated to the belief that education is a primary way to improve and enrich one’s life. Education helps students from all backgrounds, to attain the satisfaction of living and learning to full capacity as individuals and as members of a broader community. The principal purpose of City College is to offer students the highest quality education that the College can provide within a curriculum diverse and sensitive to the educational needs of those whom the College serves. By offering comprehensive credit and non-credit curricula, the College provides an environment for educational exploration and, within its resources, makes available whatever educational training people seek and need.

Learning Resources
City College of San Francisco Learning Resources facilities provide for collections and delivery of information and instructional materials in a wide variety of formats.The College Learning Resource facilities include the following:

The College Library- consists of five collections, two at the Phelan Campus, and one each at the John Adams, Southeast, and Downtown Campuses.The print holdings consist of a total of 153,180 volumes.

The Language Laboratory- provides audio-active and video cassette stations where students of foreign languages reinforce and perfect their speaking and aural comprehension skills.

The Media Center- large collection of videos and other non-print materials covering a wide range of subjects.

The Alice Statler Library- contains information about the hospitality industry.

The Downtown Campus Library- It houses a book collection with a focus on business and careers, ESL, hospitality, and computer science.

The John Adams Campus Library- full service facility, more than 15,000 volumes, over 600 video and audio cassette tapes, and 81 periodical titles.

The Josephine Cole Library- up-to-date core reference section, as well as a strong emphasis in African American studies, English as a Second Language, basic education and allies health.

The Learning Assistance Center- assists students in learning their course material.

Automotive Department
The Automotive Technology Department offers excellent entry level and advanced level courses in the Automotive field in credit and non-credit classes. We offer two certificate programs, one in Automotive Technology, and one in Auto Body Technology. TheCollege also has a fast track program that gives students an entry level job in 9 weeks.You may obtain a 2 year Associate of Science Degree or in one year a Certificate in either Automotive or Auto Body.
